Today we were supposed to have a cross-country meet. If we would have ran, it would have been perfect running temperature, and we would all have gotten some of our best times and still have felt alive. But we didn’t because the meet was cancelled when a storm got too close, and rain poured down in torrents, hail slammed onto the sidewalk, and thunder and lightning filled the sky.

And of course, it was today of all the days that I was actually excited to get going and run myself out. To make matters worse, we were literally moments away from starting our race when they called us inside, and so I didn’t get to run more than a quarter of a mile on this fine day. Ah well.

P.S. I learned a new word today: perambulate! It means to walk, meander, mosy, etc etc. Isn’t it awesome?
